Where "Two-Pot Screamer" Comes From
A "pot" is a small beer glass — around 285ml in most Australian states — the standard middy-sized measure ordered at the pub. The phrase pokes fun at someone whose tolerance is so low they're already loud and giggly after just two of these modest drinks, with "screamer" nodding to the noisy behaviour that follows.
It grew out of pub culture, where teasing mates about their drinking is practically a national pastime.
How Aussies Actually Use It
Affectionate rather than mean-spirited — usually said as a warning before a big night out, or as gentle ribbing after someone's had a bit too much, too fast.
It's the kind of good-natured stirring mates give each other, part of a long tradition of Aussie drinking-culture nicknames.
