Where "Anzac Bikkie" Comes From
Anzac biscuits date back to World War I, when they were baked by wives and families to send to soldiers, using ingredients that wouldn't spoil on the long journey overseas.
"Bikkie" is simply the casual Australian shortening of "biscuit", added onto the traditional name.
How Aussies Actually Use It
They're baked and eaten year-round, but especially around Anzac Day on 25 April as a way of honouring that history.
